Vikes' Bagley on future in Twin Cities: 'I am concerned'

Tick, tock. The countdown has begun. With the Minnesota Vikings' preseason home opener against Dallas complete, the team now has one more exhibition and eight regular-season games left at the Metrodome before its lease expires on Feb. 1. Owner Zygi Wilf and other team executives are hoping a special session will be called in October so the legislature can approve a proposed $300 million contribution from the state that will get a new stadium built. ... And if that doesn't happen? "I am concerned," about the future, said Lester Bagley, the Vikings vice president of public affairs and stadium development. Cuban on title: We beat the 'Evil Empire'

Mark Cuban is prohibited from saying much these days about the NBA. But [on a recent television appearance] Cuban did recount his thoughts and feelings from the night of June 12, as he watched the Mavericks win the NBA Finals-clinching Game 6 in Miami. "The playoffs run 57 days," Cuban said. "For me, it was 56 days, 23 hours and lots of minutes of pure anxiety. I really didn't start to enjoy it until there were about 30 seconds left in the game -- and it finally dawned on me that we had finally beaten the Evil Empire and all those doubts." ... "I'll tell you the interesting thing," Cuban added. "After Game 3 of the Miami series, our guys said, 'They aren't making any adjustments. We got 'em.' And so the confidence was through the roof." Tebow now ranks 10th ... in jersey sales

Tim Tebow has even slipped out of No. 1 in the hearts of the jersey-buying public. Maybe those who want them already have their allotment of [Tebow] jerseys hanging in the closet. Maybe Tebow's roller-coaster ride with the Broncos through training camp and the preseason has taken its toll. Either way, the extraordinarily popular quarterback's jersey sales have taken a bit of a dip recently. According to the NFL, from April 1 to July 31, Tebow had the eighth-most popular jersey in terms of sales at the league's merchandise website. In sales numbers from April through Monday, Tebow jerseys were the 10th-most popular in the NFL. (Denver Post)Comment
