As 2011 comes to a close, it's time to look ahead to 2012. Being a hardcore basketball fan, I'm looking forward to seeing LeBron James and Kobe Bryant defend their gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. Here is a month-by-month look at the 2012 sports calendar and which sports figures will thrive in the new year. For individual sports, here are predictions for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, College Football, College Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Racing, Boxing, MMA and the Olympics. So by the time you finish reading all those, it should be 2013. Hope you had a good year!

2011 was also a huge year for Twitter as athletes finally had a medium to correspond directly with fans and reporters could keep fans up to date with the latest information about their team. Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen and Irina Shayk got plenty of attention for their appearance in SI's swimsuit edition, but one model who flew somewhat under the radar is Shannan Click. That's why I am making her the final Lovely Lady of the Day for 2011.

Alex Rodriguez has become an easy target for bloggers and people who fill in for Jimmy on Hot Clicks (this pic has a lot to do with it), but I have to tip my cap to the Yankees third baseman.
