Janay DeLoach won the long jump in the Kansas Relays on Thursday night with a jump of 21 feet, 8 inches.

DeLoach, the World Indoor runner-up and currently the second-best jumper in the world, beat Olympian Rose Richmond and Tori Polk.

The event was held in the middle of Eighth Street in downtown Lawrence for the second consecutive year.

Despite the forecast calling for showers, the rain held off except for a brief moment during the fifth round when it drizzled - which is when DeLoach had her best mark.
