Green, Spurs reach three-year deal

Restricted free agent guard Danny Green has agreed to return to San Antonio on a three-year deal worth $12 million, SI.com has learned.

Green was a welcome surprise for the Spurs last season, averaging 9.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in a reserve role, helping San Antonio finish with the best regular season record in the league (50-16). He was a fantastic fit as a three-point specialist, shooting 43.6 percent from beyond the arc while attempting 3.5 threes per game.

Last season was a breakout year for Green, the North Carolina product who was taken 46th overall in the 2009 draft and had played in a combined 28 games in his first two seasons split between Cleveland and San Antonio. He was deemed one of the many free agent priorities for the Spurs, who sources say are confident that they'll be able to come to terms with Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills in the near future. San Antonio fell in six games to Oklahoma City in the Western Conference Finals.
