The Pacers have agreed to send Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones to the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal for Mavericks restricted free agent Ian Mahinmi, a source with knowledge of the deal confirmed.

Mahinmi, a 25-year-old center who averaged 5.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 18.7 minutes per game last season in Dallas, will receive a four-year deal worth $16 million. The Mavericks, meanwhile, finally landed a quality point guard after seeing Steve Nash go to the Lakers in a sign-and trade-and and Jason Kidd agree to sign with the Knicks. Collison averaged 10.3 points and 4.8 assists while starting 56 games for the Pacers.

Mahinmi will be a backup to Roy Hibbert, the restricted free agent center who is expected to re-sign with Indiana on a maximum contract deal. Dallas continued to rebuild its roster while preserving its ample salary cap space as a possible build to next summer's free agency, reportedly signing free agent center Chris Kaman to a one-year deal while adding players in Collison and Jones who have just one season left on their respective deals.
