Will Randy Moss be around next season to defend the NFC title? As we discovered over the last week, Moss wasn't exactly happy with his backup role and wanted to be a bigger part of the offense. When he got that chance in the playoffs, Moss played well but certainly didn't take over games or play like the greatest receiver of all time. He was merely decent. It's hard to envision any other teams giving Moss a better opportunity than he received in San Francisco. Furthermore, the injuries to Manningham and Williams mean Moss probably is needed more by the 49ers than by any other team. That all points to Moss being back. But he's been enigmatic over his career, and predicting what he'll do is a fool's game. Heck, he could decide to retire. (Sacramento Bee)Comment
Greg Oden now eyeing Spurs, Bobcats
Two teams at opposite ends of the standings -- San Antonio and Charlotte -- have something in common. Mike Conley, the agent for often-injured free-agent center Greg Oden, said Wednesday they're both teams that interest his client. "I definitely can see both of those teams (as possibilities)," Conley said in a telephone interview with FOX Sports Florida. "San Antonio has an aging front line with (Tim) Duncan, and with Duncan and the Admiral (retired David Robinson, who still lives in San Antonio), he would have some great mentors. Charlotte, they are rebuilding. They would be in a better position (than many teams) to take more of a risk." It would be a risk signing Oden, who hasn't played in an NBA game since December 2009. Count Boston out of Lohse sweepstakes
Speculation regarding the Red Sox and Kyle Lohse resurfaced earlier this week, though it may remain a long shot. [According to a major league source], it is "highly unlikely" the Red Sox will be locking up the top free agent pitcher still on the market. There was some interest in Lohse from the Sox earlier in the offseason, but that was before the team invested in a pitcher who, unlike the former Cardinals hurler, wouldn't cost a draft pick -- Ryan Dempster. Some might be led to believe that if a pitcher the likes of Lohse is still out there, with financial demands that wouldn't be handcuffing a team like the Red Sox, it would be worth the investment. ...
