It appears someone who had taken his talents to South Beach may wind up with options as a free agent. The Reggie Bush sweepstakes are beginning to heat up, and it looks like the Detroit Lions will have serious competition. The Arizona Cardinals released running back Beanie Wells [Monday], clearing room for Bush to be their feature running back, if he desires. The Cardinals reportedly are interested in Bush, whom the Lions have made their top target in free agency. In Detroit, Bush would help fill the void left by Jahvid Best's recurring concussion problems. Best hasn't played football in 17 months, and his career is likely over. A-Rod being sued by cousin Yuri
Alex Rodriguez's extended offseason took another hit Monday, this one reportedly from a family member. Through an anonymous source, I have learned that there is a pending lawsuit in Florida against Alex Rodriguez, filed by his cousin Yuri Sucart. According to a source close to the case, Rodriguez has turned down a proposed settlement by Sucart and the case appears to be headed for trial where Mr. Sucart is seeking $5 million in damages. Shanahan has 'no idea' whether RGIII opens season
At first, there was a rush to predict Robert Griffin III's speediest of recoveries, but the brakes are being pumped on the optimism. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that quarterback Robert Griffin III is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from knee surgery but he has "no idea" if Griffin will be ready to play at the outset of the season. "Robert is doing well," Shanahan said during a news conference at Redskins Park. ... "He is ahead of schedule according to Larry [Hess, the team's head athletic trainer]. That means the muscles are stronger than they anticipated and he is doing everything he can to be ready for this season. "Is he going to be ready? I have no idea.
