LeBron likely done with Team USA

The end of an era? LeBron James' days of playing for Team USA have likely ended. James, 28, will not play for USA Basketball during the 2014 world championships in Spain and is doubtful to participate in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, a source close to the Miami Heat forward told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday. USA Basketball executive director Jerry Colangelo also confirmed to Yahoo! Sports he doesn't expect James to play next summer -- and doesn't plan to ask him. ... "LeBron is going to be three years older during the next Olympics. He will have two older boys. He has a lot to endure with his family," the source told Y! Sports. "He played in three Olympics. Everyone that knows LeBron knows it's always based on a decision at that moment. But if the moment was today, the answer would be no." (Yahoo! Sports)Comment

Yankees tired of 'insane' circus

It wouldn't be the Yankees and Alex Rodriguez if there wasn't some drama. As much as the Yankees need [Rodriguez's] bat back in the lineup, it seems the players in the Bombers' clubhouse may have finally reached a boiling point when it comes to their controversial teammate. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, one Yankee said the nonstop A-Rod drama -- which on Wednesday took a bizarre turn, as it was revealed that the third baseman got a second opinion on his injured left quad without the team's knowledge -- is becoming a distraction to a ballclub that already has enough to worry about. "Guys are just tired of it," the player said. "The media circus that's revolving around Alex is insane -- and we haven't even seen him. It just keeps going." (New York Daily News)Comment

Louisville ready for a repeat?

Louisville's Kevin Ware, who walked through the White House on Tuesday without a limp, may have the chance to do it all over again next year. But the underlying concern for Ware will be how he handles the mental aspect of playing basketball again. ... The starters of [Russ Smith and Chris Jones], the spot play of [Tim Henderson], the potential return of Ware, the face-up shooting of Hancock, the contribution of [Wayne Blackshear], the inside play of [Chane Behanan. and Montrezl Harrell] make up a team that can win the title again. The one thing missing is the intimidating back-line defense of Gorgui Dieng, leaving that onus on Harrell and Behanan. How much the newcomers -- guards Anton Gill, Terry Rozier and big man Akoy Agau -- contribute is still to be determined. (ESPN.com)Comment
