Fitzgerald a Cardinal for life?
If it's up to the Cardinals, receiver Larry Fitzgerald will never play a down for another franchise. That's what General Manager Steve Keim said this morning on his weekly appearance on the "Doug and Wolf Show" on Arizona Sports 620. "I can tell you two things, and I want to make this clear and simple," Keim said. "I have not had one conversation with another NFL team regarding a trade with Larry Fitzgerald. "Number two, starting with Michael Bidwill down, it is our intent for Larry Fitzgerald to retire a Cardinal, period. If there was any gray area there guys, let me know, and we'll get it out." Trading Fitzgerald has been a frequent subject for speculation and rumor. The numbers, however, make it difficult to do. In terms of marquee matchups, this is how the NBA wanted things to start: Bulls-Heat. The end of the Miami Heat's practice Monday served as the perfect set up for the season-opener. The Heat fully expect a physical challenge against the Chicago Bulls Tuesday, so it made sense they ended their workout with a football-like drill. It will surely give them an indication of what's to come once the 2013-14 season tips off at AmericanAirlines Arena. "We don't like them, they don't like us," forward LeBron James said. "It's not unheard of. We all know how it is." James was one of four Heat players to participate in a drill with assistant coaches David Fizdale and Juwan Howard at the end of practice. It involved each player driving toward the basket for a dunk or layup. Once they got to the rim, they were hit by Howard with a pad. (Sun Sentinel)Comment
Youkilis open for business, Yankees out?
As his former team continues its playoff run, Kevin Youkilis has his own future about which to worry. [Youkilis'] 2013 season with the Yankees was wrecked by back surgery, but the infielder will be back in the free agent market this winter with no physical issues, his agent says. "He's fine," said Joe Bick, Youkilis' representative. "Had the Yankees made it to the postseason, there's a pretty good chance he would've been ready to play. He shouldn't have any issues whatsoever going forward. It's a normal off-season; just try to figure out where he's playing." Bick says he's had no conversations with the Yankees about a potential return. It's unclear whether the Yanks, who'll need insurance at third base, will be interested.
