Internships of the Rich and Famous

It's summer internship time. If you're making copies and taking Starbucks orders, take heart. Before he was a billionaire, Bill Gates worked as a Congressional Page. And before she was a famous actress, Brooke Shields pulled her weight at the San Diego Zoo.
Gridiron Fashion
Uniform buffs, rejoice! Thanks to The Helmet Project, you can now spend hours -- nay, days -- browsing through every football helmet in each school's history.
College Student Climbs Everest
While you were polishing off your term papers and frequenting your favorite campus bars, UC Davis senior Tanner Bixler was climbing Mount Everest. The 20-year-old began climbing on April 9 and reached the summit on May 24. Oh, when he's not scaling massive rock formations, Bixler is fighting fires. Good looks and bravado...two thumbs up.
Dumb Arrest of the Day
We don't condone underage drinking here at SIOC, but apparently former Buffalo Sabres play-by-play man and current Bills PA announcer John Gurtler does. Gurtler, his wife and son were arrested for providing alcohol to between 70 and 80 minors at a post-prom party this weekend.
More Cheerleaders

Here are a few more feature-worthy Gamecocks. :: AP
Doubtlessly following the guiding light of SIOC's very own Cheerleader of the Week feature, UnCoached has launched "Partying with College Cheerleaders." This inaugural post features Gamecock Allison. We approve, but we're still partial to our own South Carolina girl, Brittany.

Shoddy Journalism
Does the LA Times have a Trojan bias? Bruins Nation takes a serious look at the accusation.
A Longhorn Trend
What do Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, Vince Young and Roy Williams have in common? They all wore the burnt orange at Texas, and they've all said and done things to make MERKINsports question their intelligence.
Pop Culture Nugget
All Coolio wanted was a $30 refund. Instead, the rapper ended up shelling out the big bucks for bail. Guess it's not a gangster's paradise after all.
