The War of the Goats

Army and Navy have taken their rivalry to farm animals. :: AP
Army and Navy meet for the 108th time on the gridiron Saturday, but the battle has already begun. On Nov. 17, a group of Army students successfully completed "Operation Good Shepard," stealing the three angora goats who serve as the Naval Academy's mascot. They even shot a video of the raid. Not to be outdone, the Midshipmen countered with their own video. We can't wait to see what's next.
Star Spangled Controversy
This Stanford alum is all bent out of shape that Cal students altered the words of the national anthem to cheer for the Golden Bears prior to a volleyball matchup between the two schools. However, seeing that the national anthem was ignored altogether during the Monday Night Football slopfest between the Dolphins and Steelers, it's really not a huge deal.
The All-Name Team Captain
We have our favorite college basketball player -- Florida A&M's Akini Akini. And yes, it's just because of his awesome name. Is someone from your school worthy of a spot on SIOC's All-Name team? Let us know.
Orange Crushed
Tough Wednesday for Syracuse. First, the school announced it was bringing back football coach Greg Robinson for 2008 (despite the Orange going 1-10, 4-8 and 2-10 in his three seasons at the helm). Last night, the hoops squad gave up the most points in Carrier Dome history in a 107-100 loss to UMass. Luckily, the 'Cuse always have one fallback they can be proud of -- the inventor of the Manzier is a proud alumnus.
Vitale vs. Kentucky

What kind of reception will Dick Vitale get when he visits Rupp Arena on Saturday for the UNC-Kentucky game? Not too good we're guessing, especially after this diatribe from last March when Tubby Smith left Lexington to coach at Minnesota.
Pop Culture Nugget
VH1 is producing a new show called Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew -- with Brigitte Nielsen, Chyna, Daniel Baldwin and other train wrecks-- who will detox and rehab at a center in the Los Angeles area.
