BYU sophomore center Brandon Davies (averaging 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game) was suspended from the team yesterday because he had sex with his girlfriend. The school's "honor code," forbids, among other things, premarital sex, alcohol, drugs, coffee, tea, tobacco products and cursing. I'll pass on making Charlie Sheen jokes because I actually have legitimate questions, starting with, how did he get caught? The Salt Lake Tribune reports Davies "acknowledged his transgression." If that means Davies went to the school and confessed on his own, then he can't be surprised at the punishment, although it would've been nice for the school to cut the kid some slack. If it means Davies admitted he had sex after the school confronted him because someone ratted him out, then that person should be suspended, not Davies. And before you tell me that reporting violations is part of the "honor code," at some point common sense has to overtake the honor code and being a tattletale shouldn't be encouraged.
