Jets glad Mangini's gone
Months removed from the restrictive, don't-say-a-peep regime of Eric Mangini, the New York Jets say they truly appreciate what new Coach Rex Ryan is. And what he isn't. As for the Jets, the mantra uttered in every corner of their camp is that the relaxed Ryan "treats us like men," with the implication that the rigid Mangini didn't. Without naming Mangini, specifically, guard Damien Woody said not being afforded that respect "is almost degrading."

Cubs' Zambrano: 'I've been lazy'
Admitting "my problem is I've been lazy" about between-start workouts, Carlos Zambrano vowed to "be serious" about a prescribed routine that will strengthen his stomach muscles. Zambrano threw 45 pitches before Sunday's rained-out game against the Pirates and is scheduled to start Aug. 25 against Washington after one rehabilitation start Thursday at Class A Peoria.(Chicago Tribune)
Seahawks in market for RB
The Seahawks have had internal discussions about possibly being interested in adding another running back. If it were me running the Seahawks, I would be looking very hard to fill this need.
