Today is a great day for Philadelphia. As the Yankees and Rangers waged a public war for free agent Cliff Lee, the Phillies went stealth and signed the former Cy Young winner to a five-year deal. And if that's not all, I did a search of famous Philadelphians and discovered that the lovely Kelly Monaco is from the City of Brotherly Love. All in all, a big day for Philly.
The Favre Streak
Last night, Brett Favre's streak of 297 consecutive starts came to an end. Jimmy Traina, who is not the biggest Favre fan, tweeted out that nobody but the media care about an NFL consecutive games streak. An angry work colleague responded by saying that Traina is nuts and the streak is newsworthy. I'll let you settle it.
Not That Happy A Birthday
A happy belated birthday to Jets coach Rex Ryan, who turned 48 yesterday. Don't expect any presents from defensive end Shaun Ellis, who is peeved at Ryan for criticizing the defense's performance against the Dolphins. Also, don't expect anything from strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi, who was suspended for the season by the team. Now let's go get a snack!!
