Jimmy needed the day off again to deal with Captain Clutch's ninth inning choke and asked me to fill in. But he and just about everyone else reading this will be happy with the news that Lingerie Football League highlights will be shown on MTV2. In case you're never seen the LFL gals in action, here are some photos to get you ready for the upcoming season.
Fireman Ed and Other Jets-Giants Observations
Last night's Jets-Giants matchup had plenty of action for a meaningless preseason game. For starters, it was the opening game at the new Meadowlands Stadium, which looks like a great venue, though some have a different opinion. As for the game, Eli Manning decided to call an audible without telling his teammates, which resulted in Manning losing his helmet and getting hit so hard he was spewing blood and had to leave the game. Victor Cruz, an undrafted rookie from mighty UMass, made his case for a roster spot with three second-half touchdown grabs. But the MVP of the game is this Giants fan who tried to shut up Fireman Ed.
This Gator is a Goner
Arkansas radio personality (and Florida alum) Renee Gork committed career suicide when she wore a Gators hat to a news conference featuring Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino on Sunday. Here is a video of Petrino answering a question from Gork and then commenting on her hat. Gork explained her actions on the Dan Patrick Show this morning.

Apparently, Rex Ryan's mother isn't the only one who has a problem with her son's language on HBO's Hard Knocks. During an appearance on The Dan Patrick show, former Colts coach Tony Dungy said that he wouldn't hire someone who curses as much as Ryan and that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should step in and make Ryan tone down his act.

From Shortstop to Batboy
Reds shortstop Orlando Cabrera, who has played on seven teams in 14 seasons, got a head start on a possible post-baseball career as a batboy during the Reds-Marlins game on Sunday.
