The Orioles kept a share of first place in the AL East with a win last night over the Rays thanks to a walk-off single by Nate McLouth. As you can see above and in this amusing video, McLouth got carried around like a rag doll by his teammates as a reward for the game-ending hit. The O's also got a huge lift from rookie third baseman Manny Machado, who saved a run in the top of the ninth with a heads-up trick play.
$#@! HappensBroncos fans should be on cloud nine with a healthy looking Peyton Manning running the show. However, there is one serious problem people attending Denver games have encountered: pigeon poop.
College Football Coaches Are The WorstMaybe it's because so many of them are cheating, so they're afraid of getting caught, but the paranoia displayed by college football coaches seems to be getting worse and worse. Earlier this week, USC coach Lane Kiffin banned an L.A. Daily News reporter from covering practice for two weeks because he had the audacity to report on an injury to a Trojans player. (The ban has since been lifted.) Meanwhile, Tennessee has denied the popular college football blog Everyday Should Be Saturday from getting a credential for this week's game against Florida, because, God forbid, someone thinks outside the box and has fun covering a sport.
He Seems To Be Doing OKI've gotten lots of e-mails and Tweets about Hot Clicks favorite Brandon McCarthy over the last several days. If you follow McCarthy on Twitter, you know by now that somehow brain surgery has made him even funnier. He's kept us abreast of his bathroom use and his desire for a threesome, while still displaying his classic sarcastic wit. McCarthy's wife, Amanda, has also kept us updated on her husband's progress, as you can see here.
Sports Video Of The DayRed Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia had to leave last night's Yankees-Red Sox game because his wife went into labor. Here's Pedroia getting the news mid-game.
Falling Asleep Video Of The DayOne of the things that happened while I was away was WFAN/YES Network host Mike Francesa falling asleep during an interview. The video went viral and got picked up by every sports blog, and Andy Gray linked to it in yesterday's Hot Clicks. But as I said on Twitter, any Francesa loyalist knows, this is hardly a first, as proven below.
Local News Video Of The DayUm, I don't think that's possible.
