Syracuse coach on the hot seat
If there's a coach in America under more duress this week than Syracuse's Greg Robinson, it is difficult to imagine. In his fourth season as head coach of the Orange, Robinson's record fell to 7-30 on Saturday after a 42-28 loss at home to Akron, a team that was picked to finish last in its division of the Mid-American Conference. It marked just the second time the Zips had beaten a BCS team.(AP)
Oden looking to be Rookie of the Year
He was drafted more than 14 months ago, and even then he looked too old to be a first-year player, so it's easy to forget that Greg Oden is technically a rookie. Sidelined all season after knee surgery, the top pick in the 2007 draft never got to compete with No. 2 selection Kevin Durant for the Rookie of the Year award. So he's eligible to win it this year, and that's one of his goals. "I hope so," Oden said Thursday. "I'm working for it." (AP)
Brady: "I still like our chances"
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shared some quick thoughts with Tom E. Curran of today. In an email, Brady told Curran: "It will all be OK. I'm excited to see what our team is made of -- I still like our chances." (Boston Globe)
