WR Hakeem Nicks stepped up against Boston College and filled the void left by injured star Brandon Tate, catching eight passes for 139 yards and three TDs. UNC put up 45 points against a BC defense ranked in the top 10.

Virginia became the first team to completely put the clamps on Jackets QB Josh Nesbitt, who gained just eight yards on 12 rushing attempts (which included four sacks) while completing just seven passes for 103 yards and a pick.

October is proving to be a dreaded month for Jim Leavitt's Bulls. Over the past two seasons, USF has gone 3-4 in the month of October (including this year's losses to Pitt and Louisville), 12-2 in all other games.

The Ducks' offense got back on track in a big way at Arizona State thanks to an overpowering running game. Seven different players combined for 304 rushing yards, led by QB Jeremiah Masoli's 85 yards on eight attempts.

Welcome back, Mountaineers. Against Auburn, West Virginia's offense finally looked the way Bill Stewart envisioned it, with Pat White throwing for three touchdowns and RB Noel Devine streaking for 207 yards on 17 carries.
