NCAA Football Power Rankings
21 Michigan Wolverines
Last Week: 24
This week's Told You So comes from Kyle in Livonia, Mich. Kyle is representative of many Michigan fans who have written angry e-mails because I've been slow to warm to the Wolverines, who have the best offensive player in the country but who have yet to play any actual defense. Here's Kyle's e-mail: "You're an idiot. N.C. State over Michigan in Power Rankings? Do you know anything about football? Seriously get your panties out of a wad and actually give Michigan some credit." Actually, Kyle, I'm a boxer briefs guy. And they'll remain firmly wadded unless Michigan beats Michigan State this week.
Last game: Beat Indiana, 42-35
Next game: Saturday vs. Michigan State
22 Nevada Wolf Pack
Last Week: --
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his fellow practitioners of La Pistola have inspired offenses across the nation, and now the Wolf Pack are showing why on a weekly basis. Nevada's schedule shakes out favorably from this point forward, and the Wolf Pack could meet Boise State in a Black Friday clash of unbeatens.
Last game: Beat UNLV, 44-26
Next game: Saturday vs. San Jose State
23 Florida St. Seminoles
Last Week: --
The Seminoles seem to have bounced back from their drubbing at Oklahoma on Sept. 11, but Florida State still has yet to beat a decent team. The Noles can change that Saturday with a win at Miami. Which begs a question: Now that Jimbo Fisher has replaced Bobby Bowden, should the Noles still be nervous if the Miami game comes down to a field goal?
Last game: Beat Virginia, 34-14
Next game: Saturday at Miami
24 West Virginia Mountaineers
Last Week: --
The Mountaineers may be without tailback Noel Devine on Saturday. Devine might miss the game because of a bone bruise on his right toe suffered at LSU. The injury may not sound like much, but it hampered one of the nation's best big-play threats. West Virginia shouldn't need Devine against UNLV, so it's probably best to let him sit and get healthy for the Big East opener against South Florida a week from Thursday.
Last game: Lost to LSU, 20-14
Next game: Saturday vs. UNLV
25 Oregon St. Beavers
Last Week: --
The Beavers might be the best two-loss team in the nation. Of course, both of their defeats came at the hands of top-five teams (TCU and Boise State). After Saturday, Oregon State could be the nation's best three-loss team. Such is life when a team plays in the nation's deepest conference and schedules the two best non-AQ programs in the country.
Last game: Beat Arizona State, 31-28
Next game: Saturday at Arizona

Next Five: Air Force, Missouri, UCLA, Texas, USC
