NCAA Football Power Rankings
21 Kansas Jayhawks
Last Week: --
Kansas really hasn't played anyone yet on the field, but beating up the basketball team in that on-campus fight did wonders for the Jayhawks' RPI.
Last game: Beat Southern Miss, 35-28
Next game: Saturday vs. Iowa State
22 Stanford Cardinal
Last Week: --
Actual Tweet sent out Monday by Cardinal coach Jim Harbaugh: "Each morning when you wake up, drink 16 oz of water, brush your teeth and cast your Heisman vote for Toby. EVERY DAY!" Tailback Toby Gerhart might not win the Heisman, but is it really that far-fetched to think Stanford will make some noise in the Pac-10 race?
Last game: Beat UCLA, 24-16
Next game: Saturday at Oregon State
23 Oklahoma State Cowboys
Last Week: 23
Astute readers will realize I now have the Cowboys ranked ahead of Houston, meaning I am just as dumb as the coaches who have Penn State ranked ahead of Iowa. I'm banking on the hope that the Pokes will beat Texas A&M and that Mississippi State will show Houston that there really is nothing to do in Starkville. Then I'll be vindicated.
Last game: Beat Grambling State, 56-6
Next game: Saturday at Texas A&M
24 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Last Week: --
The Yellow Jackets will do one of two things this week: They'll get waylaid by a Florida State team eager to quiet the calls for its legendary coach to quit, or they'll roll up 350 rushing yards on the Seminoles and possibly take away Bobby Bowden's freedom to decide when he retires.
Last game: Beat Mississippi State, 42-31
Next game: Saturday at Florida State
25 Oklahoma Sooners
Last Week: 15
Bob Stoops said it best Saturday: The Sooners' young players need to take advantage of the playmaking vacuum on both sides of the ball and become the stars said they were. If they don't, it could be a long Big 12 season.
Last game: Lost to Miami (Fla.), 21-20
Next game: Saturday vs. Baylor

Next five: Notre Dame, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Michigan, Houston
