Hot Clicks: Katherine Webb, Brent Musburger apology

Leave This Man Alone
Brent Musburger :: ESPN

First things first: It's damn good to be back. I can't believe I have not written an edition of Hot Clicks since this mailbag on Dec. 28. Andy Gray (aka @SI_Vault) did a hell of a job in my absence, so I'm hoping there aren't too many of you who are upset about my return. I have to kick things off with this ridiculous Brent Musburger/Katherine Webb story. As I said on Twitter yesterday, ESPN actually issued an apology yesterday for Musburger going "too far" while talking about the attractiveness of A.J. McCarron's girlfriend during the BCS title game on Monday. At the same time ESPN issued the apology, its own website had an article about Webb's new fame and LINKED TO THE VIDEO of Musburger talking about her (which has since been removed). The apology also made no mention of Kirk Herbstreit, who let out a big "WOW" when the camera panned to Webb. The apology also failed to mention the cameraman and director who kept airing shots of Webb throughout the game. Therefore, the only conclusion I can make is that Musburger got in trouble because he's 73 years old. For the record, I'm a huge fan of Musburger and Herbstreit, so I am biased here. However, Webb appeared on the Today Show this morning and defended Musburger, saying, "I think the media has been really unfair to him. I think if he had said something along the line if we were hot or sexy, I think that would be a little bit different."
End Of An Era
Dugout and bullpen phones are on their way out in Major League Baseball. Managers will now have wireless phones to use for communicating with the 'pen. The fail possibilities for this are endless (no service, losing the phone, battery dies, manager throws phone at ump), so Hot Clicks welcomes this change.
Really Gross Injury Of The Day
Golfer Annika Sorenstam cut off the tip of her index finger while cutting a chicken. Naturally, she tweeted a photo of the damage.

Music Video Of The Day
It's Katherine Webb's world right now. (Hello, New York Post cover!) Therefore, we should all enjoy this fun song, (lyrics here) set to one of the true classics of the '80s.

Jimmy Kimmel Video Of The Day
The late-night host (who is now in a new 11:30 p.m. timeslot) aired one of his better regular features last night: Celebrities reading mean tweets they have received.
