Slam Dunk Contest Grades's Marty Burns grades each of the players in the Slam Dunk Contest
Gerald Green
Grade: A-
1st round: 91 Finals: 22% of votes
Analysis: Defending champ failed in his bid to become first repeat winner since Jason Richardson. But his "cupcake" dunk, in which he blew out the candle on a cupcake placed on the back of the rim, was sweet.
Rudy Gay
Grade: B
1st round: 85 Finals: DNQ
Analysis: Drew ahs by catching a pass from teammate Kyle Lowry off the basket stanchion and windmilling it home, but a somewhat nondescript rock-the-cradle number in first round cost him. Good, but just not enough.
Dwight Howard
Grade: A
1st round: 100 Finals: 78% of votes
Analysis: Magic forward became tallest Slam Dunk winner in history, crushing Green in fan vote with four creative offerings. His Superman dunk, in which he donned a red cape, is sure to be a staple of highlight reels for years to come.
Jamario Moon
Grade: B+
1st round: 90 Finals: DNQ
Analysis: Solid showing for Raptors rags-to-riches rookie, especially that alley-oop 360 in the first round. But if you're going to put down the tape one foot behind the FT line, you can't step way over it and expect to get any love from the judges.
