March To The Match
Welcome ot another smokin' edition of <italics>Did You See That?</italics> In honor of St. Patty's day, we thought it might be nice to present this shot of the Emerald City Supporters and other merry bands of soccer fans catching a breath of fresh air as they take their traditional trek to the Seattle Sounders season-opening MLS match.
Spring training
Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig (right), third sacker Juan Uribe (obscured), and a life-sized cutout of shortstop Hanley Ramirez make their way to a Cactus League game against the Oakland at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ. In the ensuing action, Puig took an 0-for-3 collar, Uribe went for 2-for-3 with a solo dinger, and the Ramirez cutout chipped in with two hits, but its limited range in the field proved costly as the A's rallied for five runs in the eighth inning en route to an 8-8 tie.
Chesson Hadley
The rookie duffer and his spouse Amanda delight at the valuable prizes awarded after his triumph in the Puerto Rico Open at toney Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande. Among his winnings were a handsome glass punch bowl and a tiny tot.
Julia Mancuso
Heartwarming sight at the World Cup downhill finals in Lenzerheide, Switzerland: The good old U.S. of A's Alpine champ channeling Miley Cyrus in the finish area.
World Rally Championship
Robert Kubica and his crew roll on against all odds during special stage 10 of the exciting auto race in Leon, Mexico.
Ernie Els
The family that digs divots together, stays together, as the golfing icon, his daughter Samantha and blushing bride Liezl can attest while breaking ground for the Els Center for Autism at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach.
National Rugby League action
Bryce Gibbs of the Cronulla Sharks looks like he ran into an angry ticket scalper before his round one match against the Gold Coast Titans at Remondis Stadium in Sydney, Australia.
Elvis
The King was spotted in Vegas (no surprise there, really) while taking in a little auto racing action at the local motor speedway.
Australian Football League
After a galling loss to Gold Coast, the Richmond Tigers were ordered by their coach to lift their game, and so they dutifully set about the task during a training session in Melbourne.
Braveheart Battle
Competing in an extreme 28k run loaded with mud pits and other challenging obstacles requires sophisticated headgear and a great deal of intestinal fortitude of the kind seen here in Muennerstadt, Germany.
National Rugby League action
Nathan Merritt of the Sydney Rabbitohs is halted by a traditional flying wedgie expertly executed by Mitchell Pearce of the Sydney Roosters during their round one match in Sydney, Australia.
Police protest
Federal cops with white elephants symbolizing public waste (or the GOP, or both, depending on your political sensibilities) demanded higher salaries and better career opportunities in Brasilia, Brazil. The not-so-jolly coppers on parade have threatened to go on strike during the upcoming World Cup soccer tournament if their demands are not met. Should a strike come to pass, visitors to the city will surely have to lock their trunks and tusk it out.
Sumo action
Mongolian yokozuna Harumafuji (left), whose real name -- for those of you keeping score at home -- is Altangadasyn Khuchitbaatar, tossed down with Toyonoshima and came up victorious on Day One of the Grand Sumo Spring Tournament at Body Maker Colosseum in Osaka, Japan.
Rudy Giuliani
Old boy's club: Looking stout and prosperous, the former New York City Mayor bids you adieu from the sunny links in Palm Beach, Fla.
