Giants done dealing with Sandoval
So long, Panda? Giants GM Brian Sabean said he is "probably at the end of the rope" concerning contract negotiations with Pablo Sandoval, and that talks have been tabled between the club and its All-Star third baseman. "We've given our best shot with good faith intended to try to get him signed and they've drawn a line in the sand that we're not going to beat nor should we meet," Sabean told CSN Bay Area's Jim Kozimor on Yahoo Sportstalk Live Tuesday. "Things have been tabled and we'll see what happens up the line, but we're not going to have ongoing talks from this time forward." Sabean said the front office made that decision in the last 24 hours after the latest round of negotiations led to no movement on either side. WVU plans $106M in upgrades ($5M on chairs)
What $106 million buys these days in Morgantown, fans are about to find out. Milan Puskar Stadium, home of West Virginia's football team for 34 years, will be the immediate beneficiary of a $106 million renovation of the university's sports facilities, athletic director Oliver Luck said Tuesday. One of the upgrades especially pleases Dana Holgorsen, who has criticized the team meeting room. Among eight renditions of stadium upgrades displayed during Luck's news conference was that of a new team room with large, plush, theater-style seats. Luck said it will cost $5 million, which has been raised by the Mountaineer Athletic Club as part of an overall goal of $25 million. Carroll's new deal makes extension less likely for Harbaugh
Coming off a Super Bowl win, Pete Carroll had a few years added to his contract this past week. [The] reaction from a large portion of the 49ers' fan base was to wonder what it means for Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh has two seasons remaining on his five-year, $25 million deal. (Harbaugh is believed to earn up to another $1 million annually in endorsement deals with team sponsors.) Team CEO Jed York approached Harbaugh last offseason about a contract extension. But the sides could not come together on an agreement. The belief is that York will not pay Harbaugh like a Super Bowl-winning coach until the 49ers win a Super Bowl under his guidance. Although contract figures for Carroll have not been reported, it's safe to assume Carroll's new deal creates more salary separation from Harbaugh. (CSN Bay Area)Comment
