Lithuania's Kalnietis could miss FIBA World Cup with dislocated collarbone

Mantas Kalnietis has dislocated his collarbone and jeopardized his chances of playing in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The PBC Lokomotiv point guard could potentially miss the entire tournament, creating a major vacuum at a position the team has little depth in and potentially dealing a huge blow to the Lithuanian's chances of repeating as FIBA medalists. Italian website Sportando said Tuesday Kalnietas could be replaced by Adas Juskevicius.

The team, anchored in the frontcourt by NBA players Jonas Valanciunas and Donatas Motiejūnas, has already lost former University of Missouri star and NBA veteran Linas Kleiza due to knee surgery.

The Lithuanian team took bronze at the 2010 FIBA games, and won the silver medal at 2013's FIBA EuroBasket tournament. It is thought to be one of top teams in the 2014 FIBA tournament along with Spain, Argentina and the United States.
