Matt Stonie defeated eight-time contest champion Joey Chestnut by a score of 62-60 to win the 2015 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Stonie, 23, consumed 62 hot dogs in 10 minutes to take the crown. He took a slight edge over Chestnut early in the contest and maintained a narrow lead throughout.

"I trained hard for this, and I came prepared," Stonie told reporters after giving credit to Chestnut, who had won the last eight contests.

As ESPN's Darren Rovell reports, Stonie took in 17,360 calories, 1,116 grams of fat, and 48,360 milligrams of sodium in the process.

Finishing third was Tim Janus, with 35 hot dogs eaten.

The contest record remains 69, as established by Chestnut at the Nathan's contest in 2013.
