Brain on Sports Podcast: Jason Sudeikis on biopic Race

Wednesday February 10th, 2016

“This is Your Brain on Sports” is a weekly podcast from Sports Illustrated in which SI executive editor Jon Wertheim and Tufts University psychology professor Sam Sommers explore the intersection of sports and human nature—what the world of sports has to teach us about who we are, what we care about and the forces that shape our behavior.

On this week’s episode, Jon Wertheim talks with actor Jason Sudeikis, who is known for his comedic roles in Horrible Bosses, We Are the Millers and Saturday Night Live. On the podcast, Wertheim and Sudeikis discuss his new biopic titled Race, where he plays Larry Snyder, coach of African American athlete Jesse Owens, who won a record-breaking four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, where he confronted racial barriers in Nazi Germany. Sudeikis talks with Wertheim about the parallels between sports and Saturday Night Live, how athletics has shaped his life and career, the difference between comedy and a historical movie like Race, the similarities between sports and acting and more.
