"The Freezer Bowl" between Cincinnati and San Diego is the coldest game ever recorded, at a wind chill factor that approached -59 degrees Fahrenheit. The Cincinnati offensive linemen did not wear sleeves -- an attempt to try to intimidate the San Diego players. The Bengals defeated the Chargers 27-7.

Cincinnati appears in its first ever Super Bowl, against the San Francisco 49ers at the Silverdome in Detroit. The Bengals lost the game 26-21, but set three Super Bowl records: most receptions (11 by receiver Dan Ross), most completions (25 by Ken Anderson) and highest completion percentage (73.5 %).
