NBA Games of the Week
Spurs at Nuggets
San Antonio entered the week with a 1 1/2-game lead over Denver for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. This is the second of eight consecutive road games for the Spurs, who play five of those games before the All-Star break and three afterward. The road team has won both matchups between the teams this season. Denver's Carmelo Anthony is back after missing 10 games with a broken hand.
Bulls at Hornets
Rookie of the Year front-runner Derrick Rose matches up at point guard against Chris Paul, a starter on the Western Conference All-Star team. Paul is on track to become the first player to lead the NBA in assists and steals in back-to-back seasons.
Lakers at Celtics
It's Round 2 in the regular season for last year's NBA finalists. The Lakers won on Christmas Day to snap the Celtics' 19-game winning streak. If Boston beats Philadelphia on Tuesday, it would enter Thursday's game with a 12-game winning streak.
Spurs at Celtics
Three days after facing the West's No. 1 team (the Lakers) at home, the Celtics play host to the No. 2 team. After this nationally televised contest, Boston will not have another home game for 19 days.
Lakers at Cavaliers
The Lakers finish their six-game road trip at Cleveland, where the Cavaliers were 22-0 entering the week. The Cavs will be looking to salvage a split of the season series after losing 105-88 at Los Angeles on Jan. 19, their most lopsided defeat of the season.
