Report: Andrew Wiggins 'not going anywhere,' head coach David Blatt says
No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins will not be traded, new Cavaliers head coach David Blatt told the media this weekend after the team held a Summer League practice in Las Vegas.
The news goes against previous reports that Wiggins would be made available in a potential deal for the Cavs to land Kevin Love, who has reportedly been interested in leaving Minnesota via trade before his contract is up after next season.
The lure of Cleveland became a lot stronger once LeBron James announced last week his decision to return to the Cavaliers. The four-time MVP penned an essay for SI.com in which he talked about his decision to leave the Heat after four years. James' new deal in Cleveland is reportedly for two years and $42.1 million with an opt out clause after this season.
Blatt, who left Maccabi Tel Aviv to become the new head coach in Cleveland this offseason, said to the media that "there's no reason" to think that Wiggins is being moved:
"There's no reason or cause for worry on his part because Andrew's not going anywhere, as far as I know and as far as the club has expressed."
