Report: Pacers making 'strong push' for forward Shawn Marion

Wednesday August 6th, 2014

One day after free agent forward Shawn Marion met with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team's Central Division rival, the Indiana Pacers are making a strong push to sign the veteran small forward, RealGM's Shams Charania reported Tuesday

The Pacers, who have signed Rodney Stuckey and C.J. Miles in free agency, reached out to Marion earlier in the free agency period. Charania said Tuesday the Pacers have actively looked to "replenish" the wing position in the wake of last week's gruesome injury to forward Paul George at a USA Basketball scrimmage.

Marion is a four-time All-Star and has played in the NBA for 15 seasons, most recently with the Dallas Mavericks. He helped that franchise win a championship in 2011. The 36-year-old averaged 10.4 points per game during the 2013-14 season.
