Thursday January 15th, 2015

A woman has accused professional basketball player Michael Beasley of sexually assaulting her, according to The Arizona Republic

The alleged victim has accused Beasley of stripping her clothing, choking her until she lost consciousness and sexually assaulting her in 2013, according to the report. The woman is seeking $25 million in damages.

From The Arizona Republic

The woman claims that she and a friend went to a Scottsdale home that Beasley shared with a friend on Jan. 13, 2013 and that Beasley and the other man "physically overpowered, restrained, grabbed and groped," the woman, according to court records. The lawsuit also states that the men "stripped her clothing from her, repeatedly choked her into unconsciousness, and repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped her."

Scottsdale, Ariz. police investigated the alleged incident in 2013, but criminal charges were not brought against Beasley.

Beasley currently plays with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. Beasley last played in the NBA in 2013-14 with the Miami Heat. The alleged incident occurred when Beasley was a member of the Phoenix Suns.

Beasley, 26, previously played in the NBA with the Timberwolves. He was drafted by the Heat with the No. 2 pick in 2008 and played in Miami for two seasons at the start of his career.

Over his NBA career, Beasley has averaged 13.2 points and 4.9 rebounds.
