Report: Heat eyeing five-year, $80M deal for PG Goran Dragic
The Miami Heat are planning to offer point guard Goran Dragic a five-year contract in excess of $80 million this summer, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.
The Phoenix Sunstraded Dragic to the Heat in February and Dragic has indicated a desire to remain in Miami, although he is expected to forgo his player option to become a free agent on July 1.
Dragic made $7.5 million last season. An $80 million deal would fall short of the five-year maximum, but the Heat also are tracking pending option decisions for Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng. Wade has a $16.1 million option for next season and Deng is looking at a $10.2 million option.

In 26 games with the Heat last season, Dragic averaged 16.6 points, 5.3 assists and 3.4 assists over 34.8 minutes per game. In 2014, he was named the NBA Most Improved Player and also made the All-NBA Third Team.
Over nine NBA seasons, the 29-year-old Dragic has averaged 12.2 points, 4.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds.
The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks have also been linked to Dragic, though their highest possible offers would be four years for $85 million.

The Heat finished 37–45, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
