San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan will play next season.
Next season will be Duncan's 19th in the NBA. He is a free agent and will have to sign a new contract to remain with the Spurs.
Duncan, 39, has spent his entire career in San Antonio after the franchise made him the No. 1 pick in the 1997 draft. He has helped lead the team to five championships and has been selected to the All-Star team 15 times.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported last weekend that the Spurs believed Duncan would return next season. He was reportedly part of the Spurs contingent that met with free-agent forward LaMarcus Aldridge, along with Tony Parker and Gregg Popovich.
The Spurs now wait to hear whether veteran guard Manu Ginobili will return for a 14th year with the franchise. Ginobili is expected to announce his intentions in Argentine newspaper La Nacion.
