Bulls F Nikola Mirotić undergoes appendectomy

Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotić underwent an appendectomy after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, the team announced on Wednesday.

He is expected to make a return after the All-Star break and will miss the NBA’s Rising Stars challenge, which he was named to before the injury. 

Mirotić is averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds on the season.

SI predicts the NBA’s second half

Mirotić will not be with the team when a seven-game road trip begins in Los Angeles on Thursday. In the last two games, he posted 17 points against the Cavaliers and 15 points against the Miami Heat.
