Memphis Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger and the team’s players do not want the front office to waive recently acquired guard Lance Stephenson, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

The Grizzlies received Stephenson, along with a protected 2019 first-round pick, in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday. Memphis sent forward Jeff Green to Los Angeles in the deal.

Stephenson averaged 4.7 points and 2.5 points coming off the bench for the Clippers this season. He has played 15.8 minutes a night, his lowest average since the 2011–2012 season.
