Tim Duncan has been given his own day.

July 21 will now serve as Tim Duncan Day in the city of San Antonio, mayor Ivy Taylor announced on Monday, with 7/21 honoring the recently retired No. 21. A banner is set to hang at City Hall, and fans are encouraged to wear Spurs gear to the commemoration.

Duncan led the Spurs to five championships and 19 playoff berths in 19 seasons, hanging it up as one of the greatest big men in NBA history.

“Tim may not be comfortable with all the attention, but I do think he deserves it,” Taylor told reporters. “Besides being one of the greatest players of all time, he’s also an outstanding role model. He taught us how to work hard, win and remain humble."

The odds of Duncan showing up? Eh, probably slim. Remember he didn’t attend his own press conference.

And really, the best way to pay tribute to Duncan is a XXL button-down and jean shorts. Maybe sandals, too.
