Ted Cruz opened his speech at Wednesday night’s session of the Republican National Convention in Ohio with a LeBron James comparison.

“Heidi and I are so honored to join you here in Cleveland, where LeBron James just led an incredible comeback victory. And I am convinced America is going to come back too.”

Cruz congratulated James for winning the NBA Finals before he congratulated Trump on winning the Republican nomination.

While he was still running for president, Cruz was attempting to appeal to an Indiana crowd by referencing the popular basketball movie Hoosiers, but made a mistake as he pointed to a hoop and called it a “basketball ring.”

Cruz finished his speech name-dropping Donald Trump once—just as many times as James. He has not endorsed Trump for president and was booed off stage.
