A brand new opportunity arises for one of the Philadelphia 76ers' own draft picks. During the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft, the Sixers snagged former Virginia and Iowa State standout, Marial Shayok in the second-round, with the 54th overall pick.

Being that the rookie shooting guard was a late selection, his level of expectation throughout the offseason wasn't so high. Therefore, any positive performance by the Canadian could give the Sixers something to be happy about.

Shayok had a solid preseason with the Sixers. While he played mostly against backups, the  24-year-old shooting guard still put on a couple of performances worth paying attention to while he performs at the G-League level throughout the year.

Shayok has been garnering minutes with the Sixers' G-League affiliates, the Delaware Blue Coats, and really to no surprise, the rookie has been doing an excellent job of impressing those who have been paying attention.

With four games played, Shayok has managed to average a little over 30 minutes of playing time, accounting for an impressive 29.5 points-per-game. Seeing as though the Sixers could use some consistent three-point shooting off the bench, many fans were begging for the 76ers to call up the rookie for the last couple of weeks now.

Well, the time is now for Shayok. With starting shooting guard, Josh Richardson likely to be out of the lineup on Friday, the Sixers decided to call up Shayok to the big leagues.

It's unclear how much playing time he will get, if any at all -- but at least the Sixers have proved that they are willing to go that route at any time if need be. We'll see if the rookie guard gets to make his debut against the New York Knicks or not on Friday.
