Sixers’ Rumored Trade Target Could Land With Lakers

Sixers' rumored trade target Jarred Vanderbilt has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently discussing a three-team trade with the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. In the potential deal, a popular Philadelphia 76ers trade target Jarred Vanderbilt has been discussed as a potential moving piece.

Last week, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that Vanderbilt had been described as a “leading target” in the Sixers’ quest to land another backup center for Joel Embiid

“Vanderbilt’s name has also appeared amid the trade deadline conversation surrounding reserve big men, most notably with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told Yahoo Sports. While teams like the Indiana Pacers have viewed the 6-foot-9 Vanderbilt as an attractive option at power forward, Vanderbilt has been described by league personnel as a leading target in Philadelphia’s quest to fortify its frontcourt reserves behind Joel Embiid.”

Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reiterated a similar sentiment on Wednesday morning as the trade deadline approaches.

While it seems the Sixers have a keen interest in Vanderbilt, he might not be available for much longer. In the deal that’s being discussed between the Lakers, Jazz, and Timberwolves, Charania reported that Los Angeles is working on acquiring D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Vanderbilt.

Meanwhile, the Jazz could take on Russell Westbrook and draft compensation. As for the Timberwolves, they could land Mike Conley.

If Vanderbilt’s out of the equation for the Sixers, that shouldn’t conclude Philly’s quest for a backup five. Although it seems the Jazz forward/center is currently the Sixers’ most notable target, there are a few other names that remain available on the market.
