Sam Amico

TIPOFF– 7:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland.

COACHES – Lakers' Luke Walton has an 11-18 regular-season record. Cavs' Tyronn Lue has a 45-20 mark.

NOTEBOOK – This will be a great night for the Timofey Mozgov fan club. ... Actually, Cavaliers fans and the rest of the basketball-loving universe will get to see LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving again. That alone is reason to watch. … As for the Lakers, Akron's other NBA player is making his lone appearance at The Q. That would be none other than Larry Nance Jr. of Revere High School, not far from LeBron's home in Bath. … Nance Jr., of course, also has another big tie to the Cavs. … He also has a big tie to me. ... Both of us made the move from Akron to Wyoming to start our careers. And both of our mothers were worried sick about it. … I began my career as sportswriter in the Cowboy State. Nance started his path to the NBA there. … Nance wins, by a landslide. … I actually crossed paths with Nance a few years ago at a Cavs draft lottery party. Remember those? Anyway, I told Nance then that someday I'd be writing about him in the NBA. He had just completed his sophomore year at Wyoming. He laughed and said, "I don't know about all that." … But Larry Nance Sr. always said he himself was a "late riser," as Clemson was the only major program to offer him a scholarship. The same was true of Nance Jr. and Wyoming. … Nance Sr. once won the NBA dunk cost. Nance Jr. is perhaps the league's best dunker today. … Nance Jr. is a 6-foot-9 forward, in his second season and averaging 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds. He is one of the league's most pleasant surprises. … Finally, the Cavs are now a full game ahead of Toronto for first in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors (18-8) lost to Atlanta on Friday. … Here's more on the Cavs, and Lakers coach Luke Walton, in my latest dribbles.
