Cavs' Love to miss time with back issue
Power forward Kevin Love will miss at least another game, and likely more, because of his recurring back spasms, the Cavaliers revealed Monday.
Love underwent an MRI at Cleveland Clinic, but no structural damage was found.
He sat out the second half of the Cavs' win over Oklahoma City on Sunday, and stayed in Cleveland for the loss Monday at Dallas.
Love is averaging 19.9 points and 11 rebounds in his finest season with the Cavaliers. He was selected by coaches as a reserve on the Eastern Conference All-Star team last week.
The defending champions are likely to take their time when it comes to making sure Love is healthy and ready for the season means the most.
"This has been our mantra since we all came together: Next man up,'' said center Tristan Thompson. ''We talk about it every year. Next man up. We hope Kevin gets well, takes care of his body, because you know we're going to need him for the long haul.
''So whatever he has to do to get 100 percent, that's the most important. We need Kev for the long haul. Everyone wants to push it through, but if you're hurt or you're not feeling right, get right because we need the big fella.''
The Cavaliers host Minnesota on Wednesday and visit New York on Saturday. Love is already listed as out for the Timberwolves.
