Game Preview: Cavaliers at Pelicans

Sam Amico

TIPOFF– 8 p.m. at the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans.

BROADCAST – FOX Sports Ohio, Cavs Radio Network.

RECORDS — Cavs are 30-12; New Orleans is 17-27.

COACHES – Pelicans’ Alvin Gentry has a 382-449 regular-season record. Cavs’ Tyronn Lue has a 57-26 mark.

NOTEBOOK -- The Cavs have lost four of six. Yawn. ... All it really means is they are experiencing the dog days of the season. Even at their worst, they're still better than everyone else in the East. ... That said, LeBron James and the guys could certainly afford to play better. You don't have to finish 73-9 or whatever, but you do need to start thinking about sharpening up. ... I've written too much about it already, but the Cavs need to find a backup point guard soon and they need to start Kyle Korver. ... On the Korver front, I mean, didn't you bring him here to try to fill in for J.R. Smith (thumb surgery)? ... That's not an indictment of Iman Shumpert, who is playing well. But Korver doesn't look like he'll be effective next to the older bench unit of Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, etc. ... So put Korver next to LeBron, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love and let's see what he can really do. ... The Pelicans have been about .500 since a horrific start. Anthony Davis alone always makes them a threat. ... That said, Davis has either missed a game with an injury or left with an injury in five of the last six. ... He hurt his quad against the lowly Nets the other night, and the Pelicans lost by 29 at home. ... Davis is expected to be good to go Monday.
