Celtics may target likes of Griffin, Hayward

The Boston Celtics are hopeful of finding another big man to play alongside Al Horford, and if not another big, at least an All-Star.

But hey, who isn't?

The difference is, the Celtics really believe they can find that man -- perhaps in Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin, or maybe in Utah Jazz small forward Gordon Hayward.

Those two names have been linked to the Celtics for nearly a year now, and nothing has come of it.

But according to a report from Comcast Sportsnet, things may be getting a bit more serious. It read like this:

Multiple league sources have told CSNNE.com in recent weeks that the Celtics are focused on landing an All-Star caliber talent in the frontcourt.

The report listed the names of Griffin and Hayward as the players being coveted most -- but admitted that both may return to their current teams.

However, a few around the league believe the Celtics may consider dangling their No. 1 overall draft pick as part of a package to land a top-notch talent. Names mentioned most include Griffin, Hayward and Chicago Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler.

The Celtics want to at least explore making a splash. They have plenty of assets to help them. Now, it's just a matter of those assets can get them what they want.
