Villanova guard DiVincenzo to stay in draft

Villanova shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo will hire an agent and remain in the NBA draft, according to Yahoo Sports.

One scout surmised that DiVincenzo received a guarantee from a team with a first-round pick. "Someone probably promised that they'd draft and pay him," the scout said.

DiVincenzo, 21, was a sophomore and the star of the Wildcats’ national championship win over Michigan, showing a nice shooting stroke and excellent athleticism. At 6-foot-5, he can play either guard position.

He met with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and several others at the combine -- and has worked out for the Boston Celtics, among others.

Overall, DiVincenzo averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds in the NCAA tournament, and scored 31 points and shot 5-of-7 on 3-pointers in the championship game.

The mock draft has the Portland Trail Blazers selecting DiVincenzo with the No. 24 overall pick.
