Report: George would commit to Cavs if LeBron stays

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers continue to have trade discussions centered around Pacers star Paul George, according to multiple Amico Hoops sources.

The Cavs are attempting to come up with a three-way trade scenario involving big man Kevin Love that results in George being in a Cleveland uniform next year.

By now, you've heard that George has informed the Pacers that he intends to leave the franchise in 2018 to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Indiana has been in trade talks with the Cavs, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics and Lakers.

Teams other than the Lakers trading for George are under the impression that he would be a one-year rental, as George has made it clear both privately and publicly that he wants to play in Los Angeles.

That isn't stopping the Cavs, Spurs or Celtics, however, in their pursuit for George.

According to a report by USA TODAY Sports, George is open to re-signing with the Cavs - should he be traded to Cleveland this offseason - provided pal LeBron James chooses to remain with the team next summer.

George also feels the same way if he's traded to the Celtics or Spurs, as both teams have strong winning cultures.

Per USA Today Sports:

Hell-bent as he is on signing with the Lakers, George -- according to a person with knowledge of his situation -- is also the kind of prudent professional who won’t close a window of opportunity prematurely. So if the Cavs can convince Pritchard to either take on four-time All-Star forward Kevin Love or send him to a third team in exchange for more suitable assets, then George will play his heart out alongside LeBron James and remain open to the idea of re-signing next summer if James were also to return (or, perhaps, George could leave for Los Angeles with James at his side).

Ditto for the Celtics or the San Antonio Spurs, teams that could fulfill George’s desire for title contention and thus put themselves in the running

The Houston Rockets, after acquiring Chris Paul, could make a push at trading for George as well.
