Sixers announce signing of free agent point guard Burke
The Philadelphia 76ers have officially signed veteran point guard Trey Burke, the team announced in a news release.
“Trey’s experience as a ballhandler matched with his scoring ability makes him a good fit for our roster,” general manager Elton Brand said. “We’re excited to welcome him to the 76ers and look forward to the positive impact he can have on our team.”
The deal will be partially guaranteed and for the veteran’s minimum, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Burke played well for the New York Knicks to start the season, then was traded to the Dallas Mavericks as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal.
Burke, 26, was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the ninth overall pick in 2013. He has also spent time with the Washington Wizards along with the Knicks and Mavericks.
He averaged 10.8 points and 2.7 assists in 58 total games last season.
