Teams watching Cavs to see if Smith is bought out

Teams are taking a wait-and-see attitude with J.R. Smith's situation with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report.

Shams Charania of Stadium writes teams are indeed watching what happens with the veteran shooting guard and the Cavaliers, who have told Smith to stay away from the team as it contemplates just what to do with him.

Per Charania:

"Teams are monitoring whether Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith will become available in the buyout market after the NBA’s trade deadline — if he isn’t traded. The Rockets expressed interest in Smith dating back to the summer."

Houston, which just signed combo guard Austin Rivers, continues to eye Smith, among other wing players.
