Celtics adding free agent swingman Green

The Boston Celtics will be signing swingman Javonte Green to a partially guaranteed contract, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, who adds Green will receive a chance to fill Boston's last regular-season roster spot.

Green, who went undrafted out of Radford University in 2015, stood out in the Las Vegas Summer League for the Celtics last month, averaging 10.8 points, 4.8 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 22.6 minutes in five games, while shooting 50 percent from the field.

“I don't know what is ahead in his future, but he played really well for us this summer, too,” Celtics honcho Danny Ainge told reporters. “And he's proven he can find a good role in the NBA, too, if that's what he wants."

Boston has Max Strus and Tremont Walters as two-way players, which means Green is indeed playing for a spot on the 15-player roster with the team.

Since his days at Radford, where he played from 2011 to 2015, Green has played overseas in Spain, Italy and Germany.
