Heat sign guard Martin, forward Silva

The Miami Heat have agreed to contracts with guard Jeremiah Martin and forward Chris Silva, according to a press release from the team.

Both players have been part of the Heat's summer-league squads in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

Martin, the all-time leading scorer in Memphis history with 1,625 points, has played in six summer games for Miami, averaging 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 19.1 minutes, shooting 43.5 percent from the floor.

Silva, the first player in South Carolina school history to pull down at least 700 rebounds and make 500 free throws, has started six games for the Heat this summer, averaging 7.0 points, 7.6 boards and 1.9 blocked shots in 26.8 minutes, shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 50 percent from deep and 74.4 percent from the charity stripe.
